For this in-class activity, students will shape the class discussion by bringing in concepts from their reading and sharing them with their classmates. They will demonstrate the ability to synthesize ideas by putting together a thread that outlines a theme common to their annotations and those of their classmates.
This activity is intended to bring the work students have done at home into the classroom discussion (thereby giving them extra incentive to read and annotate well), to encourage them to share their work with each other, and to provide practice distilling a common theme from disparate ideas. Students should have their own laptops, or be in a room with computer access.
